    The Dearborn Area Theatre Association (DATA), partnering with the Dearborn Public Schools Development Preschool Program, announces a Book Fair fundraiser on November 5th and 6 th , 2009 at the Barnes and Noble in Allen Park.  The Book Fair will benefit the DPS Developmental Preschool classroom libraries.

    DATA is best known for producing the annual Press & Guide Entertainment (PAGE) Awards which recognize local theatrical achievement. DATA also maintains the Dearborn Theatre Hall of Fame, and grants scholarships to deserving high school seniors.   On Thursday November 5th,  from approximately 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm., DATA members will present a special evening of activities for children including crafts, storytelling, crazy science demonstrations, music and more. A special visit from Cinderella is expected at 6:30.  Cinderella will share her excitement of the upcoming musical presentation of her story, “Cinderella” in November at the Player’s Guild of Dearborn.

    The DPS Early Childhood Department’s Developmental Preschool Program provides high quality early childhood education for children 3 and 4 yrs old. Programs focus on the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child through educational experiences and purposeful play.  This is done through hands-on activities including literacy engagement, meaningful number activities, scientific exploration, music and movement, art, and outdoor play.

    The November 5th & 6th Book Fair will grant preschool teacher wishes for books.  Patrons can select and purchase books from a posted wish list and the book will be donated directly to the preschool classrooms of their choice.

    In addition to granting book wishes, a percentage of the Nov 5th & 6th sales at Barnes and Noble can help fund DATA scholarships for high school seniors.  Remit a book fair voucher or mention DATA when making a purchase.  Book fair vouchers can be printed from the DATA website http://www.dearbornareatheatre.org.
